Veganuary- How Will You Use Yours?
What is Veganuary?
Veganuary encourages people to try and embrace a vegan lifestyle for the month of January. This lifestyle avoids animal foods such as eggs, meat, honey and dairy products in favour of a plant-based diet.
How will you use your January?
Instead of hibernating from the cold weather, binge watching boxsets and leaving the coming year up to fate, you could use this quiet month to your advantage! There is something undeniably uplifting about the clean slate you only ever get in January, so why not challenge yourself? This is the perfect opportunity to do something positive or to try something you have always wanted to try. Whether that goal may be to quit smoking or alcohol, hit the gym, spend more time with family or maybe even try a vegan diet?
Why should I participate?
The number of people taking part in Veganuary each year is dramatically increasing, and all for good reason. In fact, veganism is one of the most effective choices a person can make to reduce the suffering of animals, improve the planet and environment and improve personal health.
Reduce the suffering of animals
What if we told you that you have the power to save approximately 200 animals this year? Well, did you know that every vegan saves nearly 200 animals every year? Choosing plant-based foods is an easy, simple way that you can prevent the suffering of animals.
There’s no pressure. If you aren’t quite ready to take on a full vegan diet, reducing your animal product intake is a big step in the right direction! Not only for the welfare of animals, but for our own health too…
Human Health
A wide majority of us wish to lose weight. Many people’s new year’s resolutions are along the lines of “slim down”, “get bikini ready” or “be happier and healthier”. If these sound too familiar, then a vegan diet may be for you! And there is no better way to try than to participate in Veganuary!
Are you aware that vegans are, on average, up to 20 lbs lighter than meat-eaters are? They have a lower risk of heart disease too.
A vegan diet gives you tonnes of energy and nutrients, minus any nasty stuff such as cholesterol and saturated animal fat. It also allows you to keep the excess fat off for good- something that can’t be said for ‘fad’ diets.
It’s fun and delicious!
Despite popular belief, a Vegan diet is anything but restricted or ‘boring’. Due to huge demand for vegan food, food stores are sky-rocketing in the right direction. These stores are in the likes of Tesco, Waitrose, Lidl’s, Sainsburys and Marks and Spencer and they are stocking and creating loads of delicious vegan food and drink options.
Thanks to this, being a modern-day vegan is becoming increasingly more convenient.
Eating vegan doesn’t exclude ‘naughty food’ either. There is now vegan pizza, burgers, ice cream and just about whatever you can think of! There are also handy vegan microwave meals for those on the go and even vegan meal deals! It is now so easy to grab a vegan snack at the local petrol station or off licence. There is even a range of vegan supplements on the market, such as NaturaVits Vitamin B12, NaturaVits Hemp Protein Powder and even the NaturaVits Supergreens powder!
If you are a budding chef, there are endless recipes that you can create at home, often using natural, low cost ingredients. To help, there are a huge variety of vegan cookbooks to get stuck into! In fact, Waterstones have 994 book titles with the word ‘vegan’ in them available for sale! The possibilities are endless!
Veganism is what you make it, so get experimenting and find what works for you.
How can I participate?
There are many different ways to participate in Veganuary. Some dive straight in, going fully vegan. For some, this is really easy. As mentioned earlier, the vegan options and recipes available are growing rapidly, making veganism very convenient.
However, one thing that new vegans may not realise, is vitamin B12 deficiencies. Unfortunately, foods that are highest in B12 tend to be animal products, meaning vegans and vegetarians are at high risk to B12 deficiencies, so make sure you grab your NaturaVits Vitamin B12 capsules! The high potency capsules ensure that you get your essential vitamin B12 intake without having to eat animal products.
It’s perfectly fine if you aren’t quite ready to take on a complete vegan lifestyle. Many people embrace Veganuary by incorporating some vegan inspired meals into their family dinners or trying some alternative vegan snacks. This may be using almond milk in their daily cup of tea, instead of cow’s milk. Or maybe adding a vegan meat alternative, such as tofu, into their shopping trolley (yum!). If this is the path that you wish to take, NaturaVits Supergreens is for you! Containing many well-loved ‘superfoods’, NaturaVits Supergreens powder can help you maintain great health, high energy levels and the feeling of well-being & vitality! It can be used in many different ways and is a great compliment to a healthy smoothie!
Whichever way you participate in Veganuary, you are making a big difference and are contributing to a great cause!
